3.5" diameter, 5" tall, this cylindrical ceramic sculpture was made to resemble the moai statues of Easter Island. It is completely hollow, and the back is riddled with small holes for small fry or shrimp to use as cover. The glaze is light blue (food safe), and the surface has alternating smoothly glazed parts and roughened parts for plants to attach to. The concept behind this piece was how nature takes back old forgotten structures, and how new life uses them to their advantage. The java moss is attached with fishing line to help train the plant in growth habit (it was attached two months ago).
This is an experimental piece I made in my studio to explore combining aquatic structures with my love of plants. If this is not what you are looking for, but are interested in seeing new pieces which might better suit your desires, please reach out. I do commissions as well.
