Surface variety (Texas population) of the Mexican Tetra, wild caught in Texas. This fish was thought to have been introduced to Texas about 100 years ago and are now found in many surface rivers. They are approximately 1.5 inches long and are not likely to get larger. Both sexes look similar; the ones for this auction have unknown sex. In my experience these fish can be quite aggressive; some of them have little scars from their battles in the wild. They do best in a large tank. I have 5 of this size in a 10 gal tank and they seem ok, but could do better in a larger tank. I am unsure how they would do in a community tank with smaller fish. They will eat most things (flakes, live food, frozen food) and are quite charismatic. It feels like they "beg" at the glass when it is feeding time.
