Despite not being colorful, these fish put on a real show. They have long flowing fins and stay in a tight school most of the time; when dispersed the mails 'lure' the females with a specialized gill-plate extension. The females are internally fertilized, a rarity in the characin world. Hardy and easy like most tetras.
Despite being auto-categorized as a livebearer, this fish is an egg layer. Still very easy to breed, though.
