Rainbow shiners (Hydrophlox chrosomus)

Cyprinids - Barbs, Danios, Rasboras, lot number 97
Bred by this user

Rainbow shiners are schooling fish from rivers in the southeast US. They flourish in cool or warm water, and the males change color from day to day depending on mood, from blue to purple to red.

The fish for sale are tank raised and a bit over 1" long; when fully grown they'll be between two and three inches. Adults spawn easily, scattering large eggs which hatch into large, easy-to-raise fry.

These fish are easy to feed -- mine eat mostly 'tetra tropical crisps' and frozen brine shrimp.
