Spirodela polyrhiza Or known as giant duckweed is nothing like your common duckweed. It is much larger with a red undertone with red and orange tops in high lights and a much slower grower therefore, much easier to handle. It is a Maryland native plant and can be kept outside all year long so it is great for ponds to cover the water in the extreme hot months.
