"Red Moss" - Caloglossa cf. beccarii

Aquatic plants, lot number 63-B-8

Although referred to as a moss I believe it is technically an algae. It's said to be slower growing only requiring lowlight. Under lowlight it has more of a maroon color, but it is said that it can get a brighter red in the right conditions. I enjoy it for fry growout tanks or spawning setups because it is extremely dense. Seems to have really helped my shrimp numbers stay healthy in tanks that I keep nano fish in along with them.

In my experience, the growth is slower than other mosses, but not too bad. Portion is similar to a well packed 2oz jello cup.

Photos were taken by me on 7/3 and are of one of my 10 gallons.
