(6) Wallaciia regani fry BAP

Cichlids - South American, lot number 452

A relatively uncommon (in that it isn't always available, they have a wide distribution I believe) dwarf pike cichlid that usually stays about 4 inches. They have a reputation for being less aggressively and being able to be kept together in groups.

I haven't done that so I can't confirm but I can say they haven't been particularly aggressive unless they were guarding fry which should be expected. I found them to be very good parents and if you end up with a pair I would be sure to ensure they have enough space to feel like their fry are comfortable. They herd quite a large crowd of them all around the tank and it is really amazing to see them command the fry where to go. They may be competing with the Kribs on the good parenting scale.

While not super aggressive, obviously they may eat fish and small inverts that can fit into large mouths. That being said, they are really easy to feed. Not picky at all.

They like rock work and things to lurk around in. One of the most rewarding fish I've bred. I really got close with my main Male in the pair. He was a great dad and wouldn't let the fry come up to the glass if a stranger walked up that wasn't me.

Great for shrimp culling.... just saying.

P.s. they were formerly known as Crenicichla regani Tapajós

Pictures are from when the fry first started swimming right before the clash. I need to upload some current ones.
