Ramshorn Snails, 50+ how many, I dunno, didn't count them.
Good tank clean up crew, algae eaters, bottom feeders.

Quick Facts & Overview
- Scientific Group: Belong to the family Planorbidae (not a single species, but a diverse group).
- Size: Typically range from 1/2 inch to 1.5 inches (1–3 cm) depending on the specific species, such as Planorbella duryi or the larger Planorbarius corneus.
- Unique Biology: They possess red, hemoglobin-based blood (like vertebrates) rather than copper-based hemocyanin, allowing them to efficiently use a lung-like cavity to breathe air from the surface.
- Diet: Omnivorous scavengers that eat soft algae, decaying plant matter, leftover fish food, and detritus without harming healthy live plants.
Tank Care Parameters
- Water Temperature: 70°F – 80°F (21°C – 27°C).
- pH Level: 7.0 – 8.0 (neutral to slightly alkaline water is vital to prevent shell erosion).
- Special Requirement: Adequate calcium in their diet is crucial to support healthy, strong shell growth.
- Sensitivity: Extremely sensitive to copper, which is toxic to them, as well as high ammonia or nitrite spikes.
Breeding & Population Control
- Reproduction: They are hermaphrodites and reproduce very rapidly when food or algae is abundant, laying transparent jelly-like clutches of eggs on tank walls and plant leaves.
- Control Methods: Populations can be managed by reducing feeding, manually baiting them with blanched vegetables (like zucchini or cucumber), or introducing natural predators like assassin snails.
