General information
The Boston Aquarium Society (BAS) will be holding it's fall auction on September 28, 2024 at the Ciociaro Social Club (144 Bridge Street, Newton, MA). Please visit our site, bostonaquariumsociety.org, for additional details.
- In-person Registration will begin at 10AM
- Bidding will begin at 12PM. We conclude when all lots have been sold.
Transportation
The venue has a parking lot and there are additional parking lots adjacent to the site (one on Adams Street and one on Chapel Street). You may also park for free on the street, as meters are not active on Sundays in Newton. The MBTA route 59 bus has a stop across the street, but keep in mind that this bus operates every hour and a half on Sundays. The location is also approximately a 1 mile (~20 minute) walk from Watertown Square and Newton Corner, and a .75 mile walk from Newtonville.
Payment
- Cash and check are accepted from all bidders. Club members may also pay via credit card (you may register for membership at the door!)
- All purchases must be paid for in full before leaving the venue.
- Sellers will be paid at the conclusion of the auction. If you need to leave early, we will mail you a check. Ensure you have provided an accurate address and phone number at registration.
Prohibited items
- You cannot sell anything prohibited by state law.
- All dry goods must be clean and in working condition
Rules
- If you pre-register lots, you must clearly label each bag with species name, quantity, seller name, and lot number. Bags that are unlabeled and not registered at the door will be assumed a donation.
- All lots must be properly bagged. No leaking bags!
- You do not need to be a club member to buy or sell lots.
- The BAS retains the right to disqualify any items that are deemed unfit to auction at its own discretion.
- Lot Limits
- Plants & Livestock: No limits on the number of lots per seller. Please be reasonable and limit the number of identical lots brought per species/variety.
- Dry goods: No more than two identical lots per seller. There is a soft limit of 5 dry good lots per seller. Space is limited and, while we may accept more dry good lots, we reserve the right to limit a seller to 5 either based on limited space or overall volume of lots to auction.
- Items that are not auctioned and are not claimed by the seller will be considered donations to the BAS
