CCY AUCTION RULES

The
Following rules apply to all regular monthly auctions. Special auctions may have special rules.
·
All auctions
will be posted in advance on auction.fish
·
All auctions
are in person only -no online bidding.
·
You do not
need to be a CCY Member to buy or sell at any CCY auction
·
It is the
Sellers responsibility to list all individual lots on the auction site –
auction.fish. Please reach out ahead of
time if you are not familiar with the site or encounter issues. (Contact
information for the auction chair is listed on the website). Auction chair may not have time the day of the
auction to assist you in entering your items.

Non-paid
members must purchase a bidder card to bid at each auction - $5.00. All paid members must use their permanent
bidder number.
·
CCY and their members/venue are not responsible
for your items while in the meeting room.
·
CCY assumes no responsibility for any lot sold
during the auction.
·
All purchases must be removed from the premises
on the day of the auction by the close of the meeting.
·
Please be respectful of the auction chair during
the auction.
Listing: Seller is
required to list each individual item they wish to sell on the auction site. A picture
of the item is not required but it is highly recommended to help promote your
item along with a brief description. Any
plants bagged with fish will be considered a buffer.
Labeling: The
seller is required to label each bag with a printed or (legibly) handwritten
label taped/adhered to the bag. Labels must include: Auction lot number, species
of animal (taxonomic and common name if known), quantity, sexes (examples below),
your name and preferred contact information. Labels will be available at
the meetings if you need them. Stickers
will be provided (MINIMUM BID, HAP, BAP, CARES, DONTATION),
it is the sellers responsibility to place these stickers.
Examples:
Sex unknown, 1 x Male / 1 x Female, Sexed M/F Pair, Breeding Pair – have
produced fry, Trio 1M/2F, Reverse Trio: 2M/1F, Breeding Group You must indicate
the sexes.
Auction Splits: The
auction split will be as follows. All
Lots: The first $1 of each bag goes to the club. Additional split: Paid Members: 80% to seller
- 20% to CCY. Non-Members 50% to Seller 50%
to CCY. Any bags selling for $1.00 will be considered a donation to the CCY due
to the $1 bag fee.
Minimum bids: If a
lot does not bring a bid above the reserve amount at the time of sale the
seller may choose to remove the reserve completely and allow the lot to
sell. Any item not bringing the reserve
amount will be returned to the auction room table and must be picked up by the
seller by the end of the auction. If a
lot has a reserve price it is the seller’s responsibility to clearly mark the
lot with the reserve price. Stickers
will be provided, it is the sellers responsibility to ensure each bag is
clearly marked with the reserve price. The club is not responsible for missed
minimum bids.
Bringing fish / aquatic
animals to the auction: No Zip Lock bags, Styrofoam coolers or twist ties/zip
ties. Tied bags, rubber band closures and heat-sealed bags only. All six inch or bigger fish must be in
buckets with lids. A battery air pump is recommended for fish in buckets. Fish with pointed spines should be double or
triple bagged or brought into the auction in a bucket. Please plan accordingly for difficult to bag
fish. Plastic jars are also allowed if
they have a tight-fitting lid. Round bottom bags or bags with taped
bottoms/corners are required to avoid harm to fish. A $3.00 re-bagging fee will
be charged for any out of compliance bags.
Limit of Lots:
There is no limit to the amount of lots a seller may bring to the auction. Sellers
are limited to 5 bags of each species and 5 lots of dry goods/equipment. No limit on live food. If more than 5 bags of one species are
entered lots will be combined.
Dry Goods: No
leaking bottles of any liquid. No
expired items. All equipment must be in
working order or labeled as to condition (For Parts).
Bidding: Opening
bids are at the discretion of the auctioneer. The Auctioneer controls the bid and
the auction. All sales are final upon
the auctioneer closing the bid. When the
Auctioneer deems a lot sold the auction is closed. If the auctioneer doesn’t
see you, please speak up. Bidder numbers must be raised to place a bid.
Bumps: To bump a
lot to the front of the auction a bump sticker may be purchased from the
auction chair. Each bump is $2.00. The bump sticker must be placed on the lot
being bumped and placed in a designated location for priority lots.
Sick / Deformed Animals
& Fry: The committee reserves the right to remove any sick,
deformed or inappropriate fish from the auction. The fish will be returned to the seller and
may not be sold in the auction.
Removing lots: Once
a lot has been entered into the auction and has been brought into the building
the lot may not be removed from the auction.
No Reselling: Any
fish purchased in the auction, may not be reentered into the auction on that
day.
Prohibited: All
animals must be legal to sell by Pennsylvania legal statutes. Crayfish and
snakeheads of all types and colors are illegal in Pennsylvania and will not be
accepted for auction.
Please respect your Auction
Chair and allow them time to finalize the auction at the end. Please do not approach the table until the
announcement is made to check out.
Paying for your tab:
No paying as you go, please pay at the end of the auction. All tabs
must be paid on the day of the auction. We
accept credit/debit cards, pay-pal, cash and checks. All checks must be numbered
500 or higher. If a check bounces a
$50.00 fee will be charged. If the check remains unpaid for one month your name
will be shared with all clubs within a 500 miles radius of the CCY. Sellers may choose to have their earnings
mailed/pay-pal’ed to them or cash out at the end of the meeting. CCY reserves the right to mail/pay-pal
earnings at their discretion.
Sellers: Sellers
not present at the end of the auction will be mailed a check of their
earnings. If a seller leaves before the
end of the auction, they must make arrangements with the auction chair to pay for
their purchases and earnings from the auction.
All Sales are final. Any
questions will be between the seller and the buyer. The CCY will not mediate
any misunderstandings. Any unclaimed items after the auction become property of
the CCY.
