Live Scud Culture

Live food cultures, lot number 951-23

Hello,

You are bidding on a live Scud culture, an ideal live food for micropredators that is easy to culture in home aquariums. This culture will contain at least 50+ Scuds of varying size but typically I will give you extras. They are small shrimp-like invertebrates native to waterways worldwide. They are detritivores, primarily feeding on decaying plant matter and scavenging. Scuds serve as an excellent food source for small fish and reproduce prolifically. They inhabit substrate, plants, and hardscape. They love vegetable scraps! Happy bidding!

Interesting facts: They are frequently mistaken for shrimp, but shrimp are a different crustacean order (shrimp are decapods and scuds are amphipods). Scuds can tolerates a wide temperature range, from near freezing to above 30C (they are more hardy than freshwater dwarf shrimp).
