Pachypanchax Playfairii

Killifish, lot number 819-8
Bred by this user

You are bidding on 6 Pachypanchax Playfairii juveniles. Pachypanchax playfairii, the golden panchax is a species of Aplocheilid killifish, the only species of freshwater fish endemic to the Seychelles, a group of islands in the Indian Ocean, east of Tanzania. It is the only member of its genus found outside of Madagascar. An egg scatterer, the golden panchax breeds amongst floating water plants. Males grow larger than females and develop more-extended fins as they mature, plus they are far more colourful than females with a series of reddish-brown spots on the flanks. This species is unusual in that the scales of the male become lifted during the breeding season, giving the skin a rough appearance. Unlike the true annual killifish, they live around 3 years. An unfussy feeder and will accept quality dried products as well as live and frozen fare, such as bloodworm, Tubifex, Daphnia, etc.
