Rules

This is an in-person auction, open to the public for buying and vending.

  1. A maximum of 40 lots per vendor of fish, plants, and aquarium related items per Vendor. There is a limit of 5 dry good lots and a limit of 3 lots per species per vendor. Anything outside of these limits will be considered a donation to the NEC. Nothing deemed illegal by the state of Connecticut will be accepted for auction. Dry goods must be clean and in working order, no broken items or cracked tanks; no used light bulbs or gravel. C.A.R.E.S. fish will be sold first. Any items that do not sell must be picked up at the end of the auction or they become the property of the NEC.

  2. Vendors must mark each lot with the lot number, their name, number of fish and species name. Preregistration on auction.fish opens March 1st and labels may be printed from the website if you pre-register your lots through the website. For walk-in registration, printable vendor forms are downloadable at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1WpXfE1Otqc2J_6Lf4oAhpx9jsd4xkeD5/view?usp=sharing

  3. All fish lots must be properly double-bagged; a fee of $2.00 will be charged if we have to re-bag your fish.

  4. Vendor proceeds will be mailed no later than 3 weeks after the auction.

  5. The Auction Committee and auctioneer have the right to refuse any lot due to size, defects, sickness, inadequate bagging or any other disqualifying reason. The NEC will not be responsible for any items after they have left the auction hall, however, if within 24 hours, a buyer brings a lot to the attention of the Auction Chairs that is obviously sick or deformed, the buyer will be refunded and the vendor’s cut will be subtracted from their proceeds.

  6. Auction items will be accepted 10:00 am – 11:30 am Sunday. Viewing of auction items is from 10:00 am – 11:45 am. Please drop off your lots as early as possible.

  7. All bidders must register at the auction table for a bidder number.

  8. All bidders must produce a driver’s license or valid government ID at the registration desk for security purposes; the ID information will be entered on the bidder form. Before leaving for the day, buyers must pay for their lots at the registration desk with cash or by check (no starter checks) and the bidder card must be turned in.

  9. The auctioneer has the FINAL WORD on all bids and the auction Chairs will have the final word on all other matters.

  10. Non Minimum bids will be allowed. Vendors entering lots can just use $2 as the reserve price since no lots will be sold for less than $2, sorry it is a required field but not relevant for in person auction.
