Bucephalandra "Helena 2013"

Aquatic plants, lot number 771-4

"Helena 2013" is my favorite buce. It's a very rare strain that you won't find in shops or even from online sellers like buceplant. Helena 2013 gets great color. New leaves are a bright pink/red with a strong metallic green shine (you can see this well in the image. The green shine on the pink and purple leaves is not algae - it is a beautiful metallic green shine that is unique to buce). As the leaves age, they turn to a deeper maroon color with green undertones. This plant has some emersed grown leaves, which are greener leaves, and is sprouting it's submerged growth color in the new pink leaves. It's been growing submerged for about 2 months. Like all buce plants, the show their best color in submerged growth.

Bucephalandra is an easy to keep plant with care very similar to anubias. It can tolerate med to low light and no co2. I am growing these under high light and co2 injection, but it is not needed. These are slow growing plants and this stem is over a years worth of growth.

My photos are not color edited. They are taken on an iphone under a chihiros wrgb light.
