Origin: Central America – Nicaragua, Costa Rica


Geographic Range: Shallow lakes, ponds, and slow-moving rivers in the region.


Diet: Omnivore; Enjoys a varied diet including high-quality pellets, live or frozen foods such as bloodworms, brine shrimp, and vegetable matter.


Average Adult Size: Around 4-5 inches (10-12.7 cm)


Sexual Dimorphism: Limited sexual dimorphism; males may have slightly longer fins and brighter coloration.


Minimum Tank Size: 30 gallons for a pair, larger for a community


Temperament: Generally peaceful, but can become territorial during breeding. Suitable for community tanks with other non-aggressive fish.
