Coptodon Bakossiorum x6 Lot 4

Cichlids - Old World, lot number 126-4
Bred by this user

This lot contains 6 juvenile 1" Blue Lipstick Cichlids (Coptodon bakossiorum). They are a C.A.R.E.S. critically endangered species hailing from Lake Bermin in Cameroon. These juveniles are direct offspring of the Coptodon bakossiorum line featured in the video presentation given by Zoo Med at the 2021 NEC virtual convention (see YouTube screenshot). Special thanks to Gary Bagnall of Zoo Med, and to Andrew Elston for all his help in getting me the parents of this lot. Blue Lipstick Cichlids can range from olive-golden, to blue-grey, to green and red and even to a tiger-striped pattern depending on their mood and breeding conditions. You can get a sense of this color palette on the juveniles in the images above (and of course don't forget about the sky-blue lips adults can get). In terms of feeding, they love all things green (mainly plant-based type foods). The bad news: due to deforestation and pollution in their natural habitat, it's looking bad for this wonderful fish - here's your chance to be a part of keeping the species going!
