Red Ramshorn Snails (40)

Snails and other inverts, lot number 461-19
Bred by this user

These 40+ colorful Red Ramshorn snails are beautiful but very functional.  While interesting to watch, they also work perpetually eating algae and bio-slime off the aquarium glass, filters and ornaments to keep your tank healthy, clean and appealing without rasping away at fish fins like an Ancistrus. They do reproduce quickly but unlike other snails, they are much easier to control.  Their larger size makes them far easier to capture than pond snails. Their open exposed habit makes them far easier to capture than buried trumpet snails.  Much smaller than a mystery snail, the death of one or two won't foul your water.  Then of course, there is their bright red color!  I've hand pick 40+ snails so you can populate multiple tanks.  Snails need more calcium than most other critters.  With that in mind, I often stick a dehydrated piece of broccoli, Brussel sprout, kale or cabbage on a bent fork for them to feed on.  A few dried egg shells in the tank can help too! If you notice that some of the snails get white rasping marks on their shells from other snails then they are in need of more calcium in their diet.

Please don't buy these for puffer/loach food.... far too beautiful.  I'll have other lots with "food" snails.
