Purchased a group of 8 juveniles in March 2024 from Shoreline Aquatics, grew them up and let them pair off naturally. This pair seems to get along well and frequently display to each other.
Please note that the red protrusion from the female is NOT a prolapse; rather it's the female's breeding tube. This is typical for the species and was confirmed by the original breeder, Thomas Lai-Fook of Shoreline Aquatics. This is what he had to say:
"Hello Charles, I have heard this prolapse theory before and I assure you that it is not true. With these fish, the red spawning tube coming out is a trademark of the species. All the females Ivanacara Bimaculata upon maturity display this trait."
Feel free to reach out to Thomas directly at [email protected] to confirm this fact and for breeding tips.
