The L340 Mega Clown Pleco (Hypancistrus sp.) is a striking dwarf pleco admired for its bold black body covered in thick, maze‑like cream or yellow striping and its compact, muscular build. In the home aquarium, it is mostly nocturnal and secretive, spending daylight hours hiding in caves and becoming more active at night, where it may show mild territorial behavior toward other bottom‑dwelling fish. This species does best in well‑oxygenated tanks with strong flow, rocky décor, and plenty of hiding places, mimicking its natural habitat. In the wild, the L340 Mega Clown Pleco originates from the Rio Xingu in Brazil, a fast‑moving, rocky tributary of the Amazon basin.
