The SCAS Tropical Splash! auction
An in-person auction, created by SCAS
General information
See https://sites.google.com/view/spacecoastas/auction-rules for auction rules. Email [email protected] with any questions. Member split is 75% seller/25% club. If there are discrepencies between the website and these rules, these rules prevail.
For bagging tips and suggestions, see SCAS Home - Bagging Guidelines
- DO NOT USE THE LOT NUMBER IN AUCTION.FISH! IT WILL NUMBER YOUR ITEMS SEQUENTIALLY AND AUTOMATICALLY!
- The quantity box is for the number of items in the bag, not how many bags of that item you are entering.
- Fish, Submersed Plants, and Live Foods will be entered into the normal auction. Other items (emersed plants like pothos, equipment, etc.) will be entered into the silent auction for $1 per lot (to encourage bundling and discourage not so great stuff). You should still enter them here as normal. We will get them to the right area at registration.
- Lot Name should be the name of the item in the bag (guppy, cryptocoryne wendtii, etc.).
- If you are donating an item, enter it under your account and click the donation box. No need to use number 300.
- No Breeders Award Points for this event.
- Every item must be checked in through the registration table and verified to make sure labelling is correct. This looks like it will be a huge auction, so we need to make sure everything is correct!
- For the sake of expediency, we will not be able to print labels on site. Sharpies will work for labelling at the venue.
- If you need to check in your items in person, please label them carefully to avoid repeating numbers. If you are unsure, registration staff can help you. If you are REALLY unsure, don’t put anything on the bags ahead of time and you will get some help at registration.
- For those registering items at the door, numbering should be in the form Seller Number – Bag Number. Item descriptions on the bag should include item name, scientific name (if possible), number of fish/plants in the bag, sex (if possible), and/or group type (number of fish, pair, trio, reverse trio, etc.). Information helps buyers know what they are buying and can earn you more money. We won’t have time to stop and ask questions, so any information that you want to share should go on the bag!
- Bump bags will be available for purchase for $2 for the first 5 bags and $3 for additional bags. Sponsor bags will go through the auction first.
- We will be shutting off item check-in at the event at noon. Doors open at 10, so you have 2 hours to get items checked in if you choose to do it in person. Those in line at noon will be entered. Bidder numbers can still be obtained after noon.
- Check out will be available starting at 1 in the vendor portion (back) of the room. Slips are your receipt and provided for verification. Auction.fish keeps track of items in real time. Payment can be made in cash or credit/debit card.
- Receipts will be sent through auction.fish. We will not be printing anything on-site.
- Payouts will be made through PayPal or Zelle starting on January 28 to allow for proceeds to hit the club bank account.
- Invasive plants (water hyacinth, water lettuce, hydrilla, salvinia except s. minima, etc.) are not permitted and must be removed from the premises immediately.
- Native fish (elasomma species, fundulus species, Lucania goodei, heterandria Formosa, etc.) can only be entered by individuals possessing a valid Florida Fish and Frog Dealer’s License.
- You will be given a paddle at registration with which to bid. All lots must be checked in prior to the auction start. Unsold lots will be returned to the seller.
- If you are an existing member, your normal bidder number will show up when you sign in to auction.fish. If you are a new bidder, the site will assign you a bidder number. Members get a 75/25% split and non-members get a 60/40% split, so you may want to purchase a membership ahead of time. Membership is $15 and can be purchased here:
