South Coast Tropical Fish Society's Spring Auction

1. Auction items can only be aquarium related livestock, plants, and aquarium equipment in good condition.
2. SCTFS retains the right to disqualify any items that are deemed unfit to auction at their own discretion.
3. All items must be labeled with name, quantity, vendor, and lot #. Unlabeled items will be assumed a donation
4. All fish and plants MUST to be double bagged. Re-bagging items will result in a $2 fee.
5. Minimum bid is $3. If the item sells for $3, that item is considered a club donation.
6. Any item selling over $3 will be split 70/30.
7. Vendors will be paid post auction or when all items have been sold as time permits.
8. If vendor leaves before or without receiving payment the proceeds become an SCTFS donation, unless otherwise arranged.
9. There is no limit to lots being sold per vendor at this auction.
10. No expired Items.
11. Any items left behind become a donation to SCTFS.
12. All items must be paid for before the end of the event.
13. All winning bids are final, refunds will not be possible once the lot has been auctioned.
14. SCTFS will do their best to assure that all items at the auction are what they claim to be, but it is the bidders responsibility to assure that the item is what you intend to bid on.
15. You may not offer for sale, or sell to any buyer, any items that violate applicable laws or regulations within the State of Massachusetts or The Federal Government. NO EXCEPTIONS.
16. Non-Members are welcome to attend and view the auctions however all non-members must purchase a bidders card to attend or purchase at the auction.
17. The seller is responsible in ensuring that each lot is given a proper and separate lot number. The lot number should also be placed on the bag/item with a WATERPROOF text or on a sticky label.
18. All items labeled with the same lot number will be auctioned as one lot.
19. All lots must be adequately marked on the Auction Registration Form with the name and number of fish/plants, plus the reserve price (if any).
20. Everyone attending the auction is requested to keep conversations and other distracting noises (such as mobile phones) to a minimum so as not to interfere with the running of the auction.
21. Neither the Society nor the auctioneer will be responsible for the sizing of fish or general descriptions. If a buyer wishes to check the sizes or appearance of fish they should be ready and able to inspect the lot as it comes around.
22. Neither the Society nor the auctioneers will be responsible for the sexing of the fish or any defects in them but all precautions will be taken to identify these problems if they should arise. Sexing of the fish by the auctioneers is to be taken only as a guide and caries absolutely no guarantees of correctness.
23. The seller will be responsible for the labeling of bags, sexing of fish etc. and any lots entered as pairs, trios etc must be joined together. A “pair” or “Trios” are fish of both sexes that have spawned; either in the combination of 1m 1f , 1m 2f or 2m 1f.
24. *At the discretion of the Auctioneer, Vice President or Auction scrutineer committee member, fish lots that are not labeled with the correct name of the fish or without a name can be removed from the auction.
25. The society regrets that it cannot be held responsible for the security of items presented for auction. That is before, during or after the auction. Any loss prior to sale will be borne by the seller; any after sale will be borne by the buyer. This rule applies to any fish that may die at the auction, or items that may go missing.
26. The auctioneer reserves the right to withdraw any lot or part lot for any reason.
27. Passed in lots will be placed back in the fish box / container they came from. SCTFS takes no responsibility for passed in lots.
28. Sellers must keep track of their lots when being auctioned. They must be ready to answer the auctioneer immediately if he/she asks a question such as “will the seller accept this bid”. This is to speed up the auction and if the seller is not following the auction and the auctioneer makes any decision, this decision is final
29. SCTFS is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged items or property during the event.
30. All items that winning bidders decide they do not want to purchase, must place the item back into auction under their own bidder number.

• This is an in-person auction
• You can submit lots starting Feb. 17, 2024, 10 p.m.
• You will be charged 30% of the winning price per lot you sell
• There will be a minimum bid of $5.00 on all lots, and sellers can set their own minimum bids
• Sellers can set a buy now price on their lots, which will allow a lot to be sold without bidding
