I love a good emersed plant - they clean the water, reduce algae growth, the roots provide cover for fry and the leaves make fish feel more secure, reducing jumping and stress.

This is one of my favorite emersed plants.  Tiny leaves only 5 mm across, fast growing, neat pattern on the leaves.

No special light or fert requirements.
