Native plant, winter-hardy in this area, good for growing in pots in patio ponds or in moist areas. You could overwinter it in the ground, although based on its behavior in my tub pond, it can spread aggressively so you don't want to plant it somewhere where that will be a problem. Maybe a bucket in an unheated garage would be better.
