General information

1. Doors open to buyers at 8:30 AM, at the Royal Canadian Legion 1133 Queens Street E.  There is free parking and the location is very close to the 410 Highway at Queen Street.  Refreshments available on site but at this particular facility NO DRINKS may be brought inside (Royal Canadian Legion  rules--they will offer for sale all beverages).  Buyers are welcome all day.  Pick up your bidder card at the registration table.   Bidder numbers are supplied without charge.  If you would like to volunteer or you are a Volunteer Student who needs hours, Please let us know beforehand.  You do not need to be a club member to buy or sell lots.

2. All potential buyers may preview all lots online as they're entered beforehand. You can also physically view item lots on tables prior to beginning of the auction & during various breaks | intermissions throughout the day. Upcoming lots may be displayed on a presentation screen during auction but there is no guarantee.

3. Form of payment : ALL SALES ARE FINAL once the auctioneer has announced the winning number.  Cash is preferred (or debit/credit card can be used) but payment is due immediately with each winning bid.

4. Peel Regional Aquarium Club (PRAC) Auctions are lively & fast-paced, you remain seated & raise your bidder card in designated bidding areas only which will be main seating in front of auctioneers. (PRAC Volunteers are exempt from this location restriction.)

5. Auctioneers will announce each new bid by announcing the lot number and a description.  To bid, raise your bidder card up at the BEGINNING of the lot being auctioned & one must keep the bidder card raised as long as you're interested in this lot. Make sure the auctioneer sees or hears you. (Be vocal, wave your card around to ensure you have made contact with the auctioneer.) If you lower your bidder card at any time, you will be considered out of the bidding for that particular lot. The auctioneer must see a number so ONLY use your bidder card to signal a bid as the auctioneer will not consider a raised hand as a bid. Last bidder card remaining wins the bid & the item lot.  Cards must be UP from the beginning of the lot being auctioned. After bidding has started, no new cards will be recognized as active bidders.

6. All items are sold on an "as-is basis". Please, thoroughly inspect any items while they are on the tables prior to bid start. Once the auctioneer announces an item sold, ownership immediately transfers to the winning bidder. PRAC representatives or auctioneers give no guarantee or warranty on any items in the auction.

7. PRAC volunteer runners bring the winning lot to the bid winner who then gives the runner the payment. If paying by cash and change is needed, the runner will retrieve change from the cashier.  If paying by debit/credit, the runner may call for a different runner with a payment machine. PRAC representatives will provide assistance to those who need extra help.

8. Once purchased, buyers are responsible for the security of their own lots or items. PRAC, auction staff, volunteers & venue will not be responsible for items once purchased. All purchased items must be removed by the end of auction day.  Any items left behind become the property of PRAC and will be disposed of at their discretion.

9. Because of limited seating, PRAC kindly asks all Styrofoam containers & coolers not be placed on chair seats, but rather under the chairs or placed at end of an aisle without blocking any passageway. Space will be limited. Please be courteous to your fellow hobbyist.  Keep noise to a minimum during auction activity. Please dispose of all garbage & recycling in designated receptacles. Our volunteers welcome your help to tidy up during & after the auction.

10. Tables will be auctioned in a random order. PRAC Auction will offer "bump-ups" on any auction item but the cost will be an additional $5.00 per item paid in cash (or credit/debit card) at the cashier before any item can be moved up by a runner to the auctioneer's front table.  Auction ends when all lots are sold.

11. Opening bid will be $2.00 & minimum bid increment will be $1.00 or a higher increment at the discretion of the auctioneer.  The auctioneer's decision is final and absolute.

Seller Rules:

12. Sellers may enter as early as 8:30 AM and are encouraged to have all items on the tables by 9:45 AM for viewing by potential buyers.  All items must contain their label.  Items pre-entered into the auction but which do not physically arrive are deemed missing and will be removed from Auction.Fish.  PRAC is not responsible for any items which do not arrive at the auction table.  Only PRAC personnel or runners can remove an item from a table after being placed there.

13. To sell items in the auction, create an account for yourself at https://auction.fish  Locate the PRAC Spring Auction and "join" the auction.  In order to "join" the auction, you must agree to be present at the auction. (There is a check box.) Enter your items online and print out your item labels (labels may be printed onsite for those who don't have a printer).  Tape them onto the bag or item.

14. If you NEED HELP or do not have a computer, please contact us at PeelAquariumExec@gmail.com not less than 3 days before the Auction for assistance.  A PRAC representative will try to assist.  Please note that there is a cut-off date and time prior to the day of the event in which items can no longer be added.  Find this cutoff time and other information specific to this auction at Auction.Fish website.

15. Please stop feeding any live fish for the auction, 2 days prior to the auction.  This is important so that the fish do not foul the water they are in.  Fill the bag with 75% air and only 25% water.  Do not blow into the bag with your mouth.  Simply close your bag by grabbing it high, twisting it down to form a taut balloon.  Use appropriate size bags.  Larger fish need larger bags.  Any buckets, tanks or coolers used to house fish for the auction become part of the container sold along with the fish.  Pairs, groups and aggressive fish can be split into multiple bags and the bags then can be tied together to form one single lot.  Do NOT use twist ties and do NOT use any ziploc style bags.  Improperly bagged fish may be disallowed in the auction and removed.  All lots must be properly bagged.  Leaky bags will be automatically re-bagged and a $2.00 extra charge will be incurred from the seller.

16. Any livestock that may die during the auction will be removed and returned to the seller.  Healthy fish get higher prices.  PRAC reserves the right to reject any items or livestock that appears to be deformed, sick, or otherwise unsuitable for sale.

17. PRAC reserves the right to limit the number of items of the same/similar items by the same seller.  Once entered on the day of auction, items MAY NOT BE WITHDRAWN by the seller.  Minimum bids can also be entered on via website Auction.fish when adding the lot but not recommended to be high as there is a greater chance that the item might not sell.  We are sorry, but there can be no items ADDED on the day of the auction.  Be sure to enter all items before the auction day.

18. Restricted Plants or Livestock by federal or provincial statute will NOT be accepted.

19. At conclusion of the auction, the auction will close and sellers will receive a report via the email that was submitted to seller's Auction.Fish account.  Please have your bidder card & proof of I.D. ready for verification.  Seller | Club split will be 70% | 30% of the proceeds of the sale.  Sellers will be paid out at the discretion of PRAC personnel with either cash or e-transfer (within 5 business days) once all the seller's items have been marked as sold.

20. Neither PRAC, volunteers, nor the auction facility will be held responsible for loss, damage or injury occurring during the event.

Seller Items & Tips:

21. Items entered for auction with an image (actual image or on-line image) are statistically more apt to fetch higher prices.  When identifying your fish you may wish to denote as:
"PAIR" which is 1 male and 1 female of a species.
"TRIO" is typically 2 females and 1 male of a species.
"REVERSE TRIO" is 2 males and 1 female of a species.
"BREEDING (PAIR | TRIO | GROUP)" would signify that the fish being auctioned have successfully spawned.

22. All equipment & dry goods must be brand new in the box or bag or if USED it must be clean and in proper working order.  PRAC reserves the right to reject any item that appears to be unsuitable for sale at the auction. PRAC will not be held responsible for deviations from this rule and there is no implied warranty by PRAC

23. Absolutely NO USED GRAVEL OR ROCKSACCEPTABLE USED items may include: (1) non-leaking aquariums up to 40 gallons, (2) books related to the aquarium hobby, (3) Filters, heaters, air pumps, canopies & light fixtures that are working, in good order, and clean, and (4) unopened Food or Medication that is not-expired is acceptable.
