Group of 9 Rummy Nose Tetras

Characins - Tetras, Pencilfish, Hatchetfish, lot number 431

The Rummy Nose Tetra (Hemigrammus rhodostomus) is a small but stunning species, known for its vibrant red nose and shimmering silver body, making it a favorite among aquarium enthusiasts. These peaceful and social fish thrive in schools of at least six or more, where they display beautiful, coordinated schooling behavior, often swimming in tight formations. Rummy Nose Tetras reach a maximum size of about 2 inches (5 cm), and their bright red facial coloration becomes even more intense when they are well cared for and in ideal water conditions. They prefer soft, slightly acidic water with a temperature range of 74–82°F (23–28°C) and a pH between 6.0 and 7.5. Rummy Nose Tetras are excellent community fish, as they are calm and non-aggressive, making them compatible with other peaceful species of similar size. Their stunning coloration, lively school behavior, and peaceful nature make them a beautiful and rewarding addition to any well-planted, peaceful aquarium.
