Praecox Dwarf Rainbow fish Lot of 6

Rainbowfish, lot number 619

Young adults, mix of sexes.

The Praecox Rainbowfish (*Melanotaenia praecox*), also known as the Dwarf Neon Rainbowfish, is a vibrant and active species that adds a splash of iridescent color to freshwater aquariums. Males display shimmering blue bodies with striking red-orange fins, while females have a silvery hue complemented by yellow fins. They typically grow to about 2.5 to 3 inches (6 to 7.5 cm) in length. These peaceful, schooling fish thrive in groups of six or more, exhibiting lively interactions that make them a delightful addition to community tanks. Ideal water parameters include a temperature range of 74–80°F (23–27°C), pH levels between 6.0 and 7.5, and moderate water hardness. In a well-planted aquarium with open swimming spaces, they coexist harmoniously with other non-aggressive species of similar size. Breeding involves egg scattering among fine-leaved plants or spawning mops, with adults potentially consuming the eggs if not separated. With attentive care, including a varied diet of high-quality flakes, live, and frozen foods, Praecox Rainbowfish can thrive and display their full spectrum of dazzling colors.
