Odessa Barbs, Small Sized, Lot of 13

Cyprinids - Barbs, Danios, Rasboras, lot number 626

This lot is for a lot of small unsexed Odessa Barbs at 1/2 - 3/4"   These would make a very nice addition to a community tank.

Odessa barbs (Pethia padamya) are a vibrant and peaceful schooling fish that make a fantastic addition to a community aquarium. Their striking appearance features a shimmering silver body with a bold, ruby-red stripe running from head to tail, which becomes even more intense in males, especially during breeding. These active yet well-mannered fish thrive in groups of at least six, where they display their best colors and natural behaviors. They prefer a well-planted aquarium with open swimming space and stable water parameters: a temperature range of 70-78°F (21-26°C), a pH of 6.5-7.5, and soft to moderately hard water (5-15 dGH). Odessa barbs are undemanding in their diet and readily accept high-quality flakes, pellets, and occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp and bloodworms. Their peaceful nature makes them excellent tankmates for other non-aggressive fish, adding lively movement without disrupting the harmony of the aquarium. When in breeding condition, males display even more radiant red hues, contrasting beautifully against their dark, patterned fins. With their dazzling colors, active yet non-aggressive temperament, and ease of care, Odessa barbs are a rewarding species for any well-maintained freshwater tank.
