This is a culture starter with instructions meant to be used for cultivating this item for use with your fish room tanks / fish.  Starter kits will come with a link to video instructions.  While some sources offer daphnia eggs, we only offer the live crustacean at the present time.  The daphnia culture includes an additional culture of green water to ensure that the animals survive and which can be used also for setting up a green water culture.  

These tiny plankton-like freshwater crustaceans grow to about 3 millimeters in length or less. The Magna daphnia are the Red Russian type and a bit larger than other species.  They swim almost vertically in their tank. They live quite happily in large groups within a tank, so that you can harvest them when you need them to feed your fish, tadpoles, salamanders, newts, or aquatic insects.  They reproduce quickly.  It only takes eight days for a baby Daphnia to grow to maturity and begin breeding. Each Daphnia has ten babies. If you have 100 Daphnia today, you’ll have 1000 Daphnia in a week. Their life cycle is only a couple of months.
