The Yellow Tuxedo Guppy (Poecilia reticulata) is a visually striking and peaceful freshwater fish known for its black "tuxedo" body that contrasts sharply with a bright yellow tail. They are popular, hardy, and suitable for both beginner and experienced aquarists. 
Care Requirements
  • Tank Size: A minimum of a 10-gallon tank is recommended to provide ample swimming space for these active fish.
  • Water Parameters: They thrive in tropical temperatures between 72-82°F (22-28°C) and prefer slightly alkaline water with a pH of 6.5-8.0. Moderate to hard water is ideal.
  • Diet: Yellow Tuxedo Guppies are omnivores and do well on a varied diet. Feed them high-quality flake or pellet food supplemented with occasional live or frozen foods such as brine shrimp or bloodworms to enhance their coloration and overall health.
  • Tank Setup: Provide a mix of live or artificial plants, decorations, and open swimming areas. They are known jumpers, so a lid or lowered water line is recommended.
  • Compatibility: They are peaceful and sociable, making them excellent companions for a community tank with other non-aggressive species like platies, mollies, and neon tetras. Avoid keeping them with known fin-nippers or aggressive fish.
