Alder Cones are an amazing way to add tannins to a tank!
I collected these Alder Cones during the summer from local trees along the bank of Minnehaha Creek. I believe the species of alder was Alnus glutinosa. All cones were collected from branches, none from the ground. I only harvested cones that were "ripe" (thoroughly dry and came off the branch with little-to-no force). All cones were cleaned by sitting in direct sunlight for about 5-6 hours. Depending on personal preference, the cones can be prepped by either rinsing or steeping them. Don't pay for shipping your tannins from the opposite side of the globe! Buy local! I am fully confident that these are safe to use as I have used them with both juvenile and adult fish and inverts with no loss of life.
Buy here and get them cheaper than anywhere else!
(I only counted how many cones equaled 10 grams one time. ALL bags will contain 10 grams of cones, I am not counting cones per bag, I am measuring out 10 grams per bag.)
